Colorful Downtown Family Session
(a.k.a., The weather finally cooperated)
The weather in North Carolina can often be unkind to photographers in spring. It’s still a little cold, but teases us with a few warm days. It’s wet and sometimes you get 30 mph winds. This spring we had it all and more.
I’d been trying to get this poor family’s session in since December. As in 2017. They were so patient and so cooperative, I honestly thought about bringing champagne to celebrate. And in our final day of preparation we “whispered” over email so not to jinx what looked to be a nice day. We got the perfect day. Warm with a little breeze and no humidity. Perfect. Southern. Spring. It’s since dissipated, but we got our winner.
I first met the youngest Miss through one of the local preschools I photograph. She was one of my favorite subjects with plenty of sass to go around. Can you put your hand on your hip for me? Oh yeah. I recognized the name right away when mom contacted me and was excited to meet the whole family. I was even more pumped that mom wanted an urban shoot, so we did my favorite stroll. Elm Street, and South Elm to be specific, has so many amazing nooks. So much character. And great for keeping the little ones engaged. Particularly when you throw in the Crooked Tail Cat Cafe. Thanks again Sara! I loved working with your beautiful family. xo
